James Palmer Awarded CBE as MQ Trustee

MQ trustee and esteemed Senior Partner at Herbert Smith Freehills, James Palmer, has been honored with the prestigious title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the latest Honours lists presented by King Charles III. This recognition acknowledges his significant contributions to business and law in the United Kingdom, marking him as a key figure in the legal and corporate landscape.

Over the past three decades, James has undertaken various influential roles aimed at enhancing legislative and regulatory frameworks, bolstering the competitiveness of the UK, and reforming the justice system. His strategic insights and dedicated efforts culminated in his appointment to the MQ board in 2023, where he continues to advocate for meaningful reforms.

Currently, James serves as a pivotal member of TheCityUK’s Leadership Council and chairs its Legal Services Group. TheCityUK stands as the principal industry association representing the UK’s financial and professional services sectors, and its Legal Services Group is dedicated to enhancing the competitiveness and effectiveness of the legal sector, ensuring that it meets the evolving needs of clients and stakeholders alike.

The CBE is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated a prominent impact at the national level or have taken on leading roles at the regional level. This prestigious honor is also conferred for distinguished and innovative contributions across various fields, recognizing those who have made a substantial difference in their area of expertise.
