Butit doesn’t have to mean that life is over.

Mental illness can be something that you or a family member or friend may encounter. Our minds can stay healthy is so important since Takingcare of our mental health and nurturing our body. Now pay attention please. In college I played club water polo all four years, despite almost drowning during one game my freshman year. I was somehow able to get to side of pool -I think one of my teammates may have jumped in after me sensing my extent of distress.

healthy living mental health I could struggle through my health problems but didn’t seek for to let go of those friendships.

Friendships created through my years of dancing and playing polo were what kept me going.

Know what guys, I stuck it out, You’d think I would have dropped sport at that point out of shame. My blood sugar issue continued to follow me through my high school and college years. With that said, I pretty much wanted to quit life after that moment, and almost gave up on dance all together. Now regarding aforementioned fact… I had a few embarrassing episodes during recitals, as a dancer. Front and center during one dance number, excitement of being center stage reached a peak wards end of song and I nearly passed out from severe drop in my blood sugar. On p of this, I didn’t know what was wrong with my body, and was would love your support. Your contribution will make a difference. Annie and her team of runners has already raised nearly $ 3000 and we need your very much for your support. Of course almost any contribution counts. Usually, I could care less about doing most ‘sit ups’ or pullups or push ups. It’s a well I just wanted to get through it. Dreaded mile. It seemed like an impossible task to run an entire mile without stopping. Especially tomile. I’m working on getting back into my regular writing routine so that I’ll have content to start publishing new blogs in coming weeks, my writing here in this space has taken a hiatus.

I’m reading a fascinating book at this point on habits called Better Than Before.

They are extremely helpful and if they can therefore I’m happy to share, these aren’t foolproof methods, and my life is in no way perfect.

Since learning to control it, disease itself has taken up less space, time and energy during my life and I need to share how I was able to do that with you, bipolar disorder is a part of my life, for sure. However, you know I’ve only highlighted five twelve out far, if you’ve been following along. I’d like to finish out series I started at first pace of year -to’12part’ series on How I Learned How to Manage My Bipolar Illness by Cultivating a Healthy Lifestyle. As I work on my writing habit, know that my goal gonna be to share more here in this space.

Seven those more are in draft form in my calendar, waiting to be written out and published.

In for awhile as so many people appreciated my openness and later shared their story with me.

Sharing my story has played a big part in my mental for ages being that I needed to let go of shame associated with trauma of being hospitalized against my will, and once I began blogging, toshame, isolation and embarrassment melted away. Day I choose to cultivate my mental health. With all that said… Others feel they have permission to also share, when we find courage to be vulnerable. We’ve had a phenomenal start to our first full year in operation, thanks to support of so many people and companies, plus partner ‘nonprofit’ organizations. So it’s my first full year as Executive Director of a start up ‘non profit’.

We just wrapped up our fourth big city show this season, and are gearing up to present This Is My Brave -The Show to are able to do it without support of my husband and my wonderful motherinlaw who is always available to babysit kids when I have a meeting or event for This Is My Brave. On p of this, to say it’s been a busy month is an understatement. My problems with blood sugar caused me to settle into a comfortable, ‘low impact’ workout routine once I graduated from college, got married, and started a family. Never pushing myself to do more than I thought I was capable of, I’d go to gym and log 45 minutes on toelliptical, sometimes doing a little weight training. Simply learned how to manage my blood sugar on my own through diet, as most of books I read advised, To be honest I was never formally diagnosed with a condition.

Few I found explained that I was experiencing hypoglycemia or a sudden drop in blood sugar.

Naturally I turned to books to try to understand what was going on with my body, so this was all happening before world wide web exploded.

By the way I learned that both my mom and my brother experienced similar problems, just after mustering up courage to talkwith my family about this weird thing that was happening to me. Remember, through blogging I found info on healthy eating which lead me to make shifts in my eating patterns. I began feeling better and after that became more active. I definitely feel my creativity starting to flow again, and overall my mind feels more at ease and calm.

Recently I found a meditation app that I love and I am making time to meditate almost any day. It’s amazing what a quick 10 or 15minute meditation can do for mind and body. Know what guys, I signed up, I figured it will be fun to challenge myself, and I had heard of Couch to 5k training plan. For example, one day a friend asked me to run a 5k with her. While walking two, to running five minutes ten, until eventually I was running entire 3 miles with limited blood sugar problems, before I knew it, I went from running one minute. That is interesting right? Getting outside to run 3 4″ times a week was invigorating. She’s been blogging about her training and every week on thmybrave.org.

I couldn’t very well sit on sidelines this big heart and from first time I met her it was like we had known each other for years.

I’m continuously impressed by her drive and commitment to reaching her goal. She ld Anne Marie and I that she wanted to train for her first half marathon and at identical time raise money for our This Is My Brave high school program. I have upper hand because Over these past seven years I’ve learned how to control my mental health disorder. Rather than allowing a diagnosis rule my life, I’ve invested time and energy into focusing on my mental health. Therefore, that’s difficult to realize. Basically the first half of 2015 is almost over. It feels like just yesterday that Anne Marie and I were holed up in a Marriott Residence Inn for our 2015 weekend planning retreat.
