Dr Alison Tierney, housekeeping carer, fellowship anthropologist, Council partner for ‘Evidencebased’ Psychiatry and coordinator of the All Party Parliamentary Group for prescribed drug dependence I deeply support your letter to the BBC. BBC with this. Stanford University and am well see in the field of trauma, PTSD and attachment disorder in adults. Keep! Due to several immensely challenging life traumas I have got ended up working with a psychologist at our own nearest CMHT. My GP tries to put me on anti depressants and even when my psychologist says that the term ‘mentally ill’ doesn’t virtually apply to me as I am responding rather normally considering what was done to me, I am labelled ‘mentally ill’ by most of CMHT. Let me tell you something. Having lost the opportunity to work as well as having been undiagnosed until lately with 10 years long severe ME/CFS and extreme iron deficiency, my life is one of immense struggle nevertheless I work tough at striving to understand what really is going on for me. Yes, that’s right! LOVE to stand up and say ‘you think mentally ill guys simply have wonky brains full stop? As an example, apparently guys like me more commonly make drugs, drink, end up in prison, self harm, fail at relationships, are hospitalised. I, when all else has fails me, I attend my therapy appointments and wonder why on earth I go with such a bleak future and in such crazy making pain. The Revenant’. I got lived for nearly years on the edge, where nothing seems to support but I try to go. Then once again, all the following qualities are mostly seen by my husband, my kids, my few pretty close chums and my therapist. Reason, bBC did past day. With that said, I will be grateful -I need to uphold somebody else to have hope when there is no reason to have hope, to fight another week when the future simply is being same more, to reach out to folks and not give up, in case there is any way you can look for my voice to be heard.
Surely the concept that SSRI’s qualify as ‘medication’ is in addition enormously questionable.

Notice, in The Mind, and will like to see more balanced reporting on the after effect of antidepressants, which can involve the development of hypomania, a worsening of mental soundness of body, violence and in extreme cases, suicide. In total support of his letter.
There is a growing corpus of us, no doubt both professionals and experiencers of trauma and ‘mental overall wellbeing difficulties’ that are seeking and finding various different paradigms.
The media in Ireland as well continue to misinform the society.
The sale of psychotropic drugs continues to rise. Guys should not figure out the truth about prescription drugs since massive Pharma is in charge and is able to have a pill for every ill in the event their pills are no better compared with placebo with self-assured adverse effects. Guys who are ‘diagnosed’ by psychiatrists are in danger of being harmed in the position of ‘help’. a great deal of end up with a few more troubles than they usually had first and foremost. The collaboration now can happen to be the own media and plenty of you tube videos are a good deal more interesting than documentary done by established media. Known in case established media continue to deny people with another position their authentic voices they are completely putting a nail in their own coffin! That’s right! Ireland likewise continue to misinform the social. The sale of psychotropic drugs continues to rise. It appears some corporate owned media tells a narrative that serves the interests of their allies within establishments such as pharmaceuticals and biomedical psychiatry.
In the real world thousands of practitioners are standing up and ensuring the voices are being heard. Enough of this biomedical dogma! It doesn’t represent what actually is happening out there in the front lines where a growing number of practitioners are helping anybody who are deeply and adversely affected with the help of such biomedical treatments. Doublecheck if you leave a comment about it in the comment section. Freud, Jung, Adler, Bowlby, and all the a few more founding members of TRUE psychology and psychotherapy should join this list with nothing like hesitation!

Sue OldhamRecovering from addiction, alcoholism and depression.
For the sake of discussion I will say that there’re studies that show that markers for inflammation and difficulties with the glutamatergic structure are reasonable biological indicators for depression.
Mark Pawlyszyn, Author of ‘How To Be lucky No Matter How You Feel’, due for publication May 2016, Diagnosed with OCD and depression and recovered from one and the other with anything unlike medication. Whenever having heard a great deal of interesting cutting edge theories and treatments in my lectures, as an undergrad mental general health nurse, ll admit I was slightly saddened to see how behind the BBC’s understanding of mental soundness of body surely is. a Oncology Nurse should in no circumstances be described as caring for the cancerous. With that said, guys who experience mental well being difficulties are guys 1-st.
We must increase understanding, not perpetuate misinformation and stigma.
This letter is excellent, it intelligently and thoughtfully challenges the medicinal model narrative and introduces a richly textured available version of mental soundness of body and mental everyday’s wellbeing difficulties. Reality, it’s from a naive position of limited understanding that the BBC tried to present a mental overall wellbeing themed month. Of course dragging commune perception back to the medicinal model with no regard for recovery and peer orientated approaches and specialist psychological interventions is pretty unhelpful, as it should have provided a platform to say ‘ this is what really is needed! Known here’s where investment is needed, actually it is not only recovery orientated treatments that has to be increased and funded, it is the wider national landscape. We need to look at the sociopolitical concerns influencing mental overall well being difficulties! Notice, but not considering as far as folk just quietly make their medication all will be well. Dare I assume the BBC can have a vested interest in not shouting too loudly about politics? So here’s the question. Do you know in the event they spoke honestly about the catastrophic effects of welfare reform on citizens mental soundness? This is a wonderful and essential letter and I will be proud to have my title included.
Good letter.
Fully understand this letter.
Lauren LovejoyMSc Foundation of Clinical Psychology, University of Southampton I wholeheartedly endorse Professor Kinderman’s letter. With that said, overlooking people’s lives experiences and endorsing the medic model does not serve to reduce the stigma surrounding mental soundness constraints, rather the contrary.
Professor Kinderman’s letter. Overlooking people’s lives experiences and endorsing the medicinal model does not serve to reduce the stigma surrounding mental everyday’s health problems, rather the contrary. Notice that helen Moore Congratulations on a well expressed letter -I hope it makes a difference.
Professor Kindermans letter.
This did little to carefully address the situation. Jeremy Davies, mental overall health nurse. While combining breadth and specificity, congratulations on a masterful letter. It does continue to intrigue me how awkward and ill at ease the BBC is about matters psychological. Announcers refer to ‘psych o therapists’ as in the event they had not heard the word in ordinary conversation. Now let me tell you something. Maybe they entirely reflect simple social perceptions. There’s a lot more about this stuff here. Latter campaigns like Time to Talk/We Need to Talk were based on wellknown nations ‘coming out’ -Fry, trouble element is that welcome though they been which is no longer seen as alien or threatening. How did that work?
Readers most likely like to hear how this kind of matters could be appropriately dealt with, as illustrated in this ABC Australia programme broadcast last weekend http. Hope this letter makes a difference.
DWP as any of you can be aware you got too prove you got a ‘mental illness’to meet the criteria needed to enable any access or entitlement to supports. Your this society is sick with the medic model you can not challenge the BBCs biased outlook on mental well being as that doesn’t fit with how anybody need to present and be perceived under the patronage of country management with an eye to have any chance of having the essential income needed to travel to the non medicinal therapies. In the event they are lucky to have any accessible. As a mental soundness professional it goes against everything I believe to advise somebody to focus on their regular struggles so they can get some income with intention to survive to be able to promote wellbeing. The with no a medication regime are frowned upon by the likes of ATOS as how is it feasible to feel unwell and not be taking any medication? Usually, must be made up then.
It’s right to assist this letter, but.
With profit ‘medicine’, pandora box exposing the perverted practice and philosophy of modern.
Litigate the chemical imbalance fraud as the scam it’s and the doctors profiting from it as the criminals breaching the common contract against the collaboration general well being and safety. Litigate the chemical imbalance fraud as the scam it’s and the doctors profiting from it as the criminals breaching the public contract against the social everyday’s wellbeing and safety.
Where are all the mental soundness nurses’ voices?
All in all, there actually is a deafening silence around that kind of concerns. Of course why? As a trainee mental overall health nurse I see this frustrating and sad. Bella Jackson, PGDip nursing apprentice King’s College London As friends who has suffered with chronic/recurrent depression and tried loads of medications, none which helped for over several months, I support this letter.
None which helped for almost several months, I support this letter, as somebody who has suffered with chronic/recurrent depression and tried many medications. Leaving aside psychological precursors, it’s worth looking at the psychological interventions that you mention in your letter. You say Given the diversity of those needs, this care probably involve peer support, data, psychological therapy, or medication. Furthermore, to actually promote medication with no likewise presenting different approaches is biased and irresponsibleIn case we turn 1st to the empirical evidence on peer support for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, it’s not positive. X1439 While peer support is certainly desirable, empirical evidence assumes it has little or no impact in the areas that we apparently hope and expect. In case we turn to your NICE reference guide advocating CBT for schizophrenia and psychosis. This NICE guidance is now unacceptably outdated -the review and current recommendations cover studies published usually up until 2008 -surely in this instance, NICE are not meeting the own commitment to keeping guidelines current and evidence based. If of the NICE the case guideline advocating psychological interventions for bipolar disorder, the evidence is highly rather low quality and as with the NICE guidance on schizophrenia, has really a few days ago been questioned https.
As a social broadcasting service the BBC must be aware that this programmes nature constitute substantially mental everyday’s well being interventions and biased or unbalanced journalism, with celebrity endorsement could have a considerable impact on society attitudes to mental wellbeing. Interventions better not be taken lightly, and where noticeable concerns are raised it should, in my view, be unethical to proceed with the broadcast since not addressing them. Relying heavily on clinical constructs which are oftentimes not the focus of recovery for patients, to respond to r Laws comment above -it’s striking that the evidence presented is limited to a narrow academic frame. Moreover there is no reference to the ‘experience’ of mental ill overall wellbeing, the wider common context or any evidence from various different disciplines / frames of investigation -whilst dismissing guidance which does not corroborate Mr act’s opinions. Then once again, it is unsurprising in case that raised noticeable concerns from folks experiencing mental well being difficulties and these working clinically with these folks, in case such the method were taken by a documentary team interested in the experiences of people with mental general health difficulties.
Peter Kinderman’ I suppose the BBC hold this suggestion as a matter of urgency. It behoves all of us to be aware and alert to the real causes of socalled mental illness, the circumstances and conditions for stress in the lives of all of us are not decreasing -they are increasing. We as well need to be aware that the usually accepted expertise of psychiatry and pharmaceutical businesses is nothing more than an unscientific and hollow claim -it must be challenged. Ok, and now one of very crucial parts. Mainstream media is possibly the loudest voice in society -this is a highly big chance for the BBC and Irish media. This needs to be given full voice, not only once but until the message starts to penetrate! Anyways, get to it BBC! Now look. Get to it RTE! You shall make it in account. Who have suffered the ‘doublewhammy’ of having themselves labelled and medicalized by the corpus of professionals who think they are the experts whenever it boils down to classifying and treating the life experiences of somebody else, frank McGuinness, currently retired having spent 34 years working really strongly with folks suffering consequently of stressful circumstances in the lives.
An excellent and crucial letter, which I wholeheartedly support.
Amy Schofield Clinical Lead of ‘MACUK’ and Psychologist at the Brandon Centre, Camden. Even if, shocking to see how many psychologists are prepared to put the titles to this letter. ‘s. Everybody who really develops a severe mental illness, such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, should be fully entitled to a holistic assessment and management plan which should be ultimately the responsibility of a psychiatrist, not a psychologist, to devise. The psychiatrists I understand are splendidly capable of incorporating psychosocial dimensions in the work. It’s sad to see such anti medic and anti biological sentiment flourishing among guys who are supposed to be your professional colleagues.

Hi There, I merely spent a little time study through your posts, which I searched with success for entirely by mistake while researching one of my projects. BrainPlus IQBrainPlus IQ uk Time to look at the picture. We need to make a stand against drug businesses. They are poisoning folks and selling tells lies to doctors. Its a nasty web.
